"The strongly decreasing number of flights to and from Schiphol Airport,
Amsterdam and in the airspace of the Netherlands, force Air Traffic
Control the Netherlands to drastically reduce costs. Among the measures
to be taken will be a 10% decrease in the number of staff before the
end of the year 2010.
This means 100 full-time jobs less and ATCN cannot rule out enforced resignations.
In close consultation with the Ministry of Transport and Public Works,
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and KLM a considerable number of measures
will be decided on. These must have been laid down by the end of May 2009. ATCN’s focus will remain on its core business: a safe and efficient air traffic handling.
ATCN has already taken a number of cost reduction measures. The
contracts of all its temporary workers have been terminated, there is a
halt on vacancies and all external activities are assessed on the basis of their necessity and costs.
The ATCN works council and relevant labour unions have been informed.
